One of the most important tools you'll need in your travel arsenal is your suitcase.
Most importantly, it needs to be functional, but of course, it doesn't hurt if it's cute, either. My favorite travel accessory brands are BÉIS and I also enjoy Calpak. Both brands are asian-owned (by actress and entrepreneur Shay Mitchell and Edward and Judy Kwon, respectively) and as a Filipino-American, I also enjoy supporting AAPI-owned businesses.
I've been a fan of BÉIS since 2019. My first purchase included:
- Carry-on Roller in Beige
- Check-in Roller in Black
- Clear Fanny Pack in Beige (no longer available)
- Backpack in Beige
My collection's expanded over the years via personal purchases and gifts — the loyalty and trust in BÉIS comes from its proven performance over my travels. This includes: the BÉIS Weekender, Front-Pocket Carry-on Roller (perfect for European flight requirements!) among more items.
You can check out my reel here for a quick clip of packing the carry-on with the packing cubes and this reel here shows how easily it rolls through the airport.
The BÉIS roller luggage also comes with a weight indicator so you'll know if you're over 50 lbs. If you're under, you'll still need a separate scale (I love this one from Amazon) to know exactly how much room you have, but the indicator is great for a quick check.
I had already been using Calpak's 5-piece Packing Cube set since 2018. If you've ever been on the fence about packing cubes, don't be. They help organize your clothes and compress your clothing to save more space in your suitcase for more shopping ;)
Lately, I've been loving the Calpak Luka Duffle — it's perfectly sized as a personal item (even for budget airline specifications) and it has all of the organizational function of the larger BÉIS weekender bag. It protects my laptop, has a separate shoe compartment (which also fits a full-sized raincoat, if you're curious) and a side water bottle pocket for easy access while it's under the seat in front of you.
In summary:
- BÉIS big bags and roller bags are durable and keep me organized for big travel. With 4 360-wheels, a padded cushion on the handle, and included laundry bags, they truly master the need for form and function for any traveler
- Calpak's Luka Duffel is a new all-star in my travel bag collection and has already come with me on 8 flights in the 2 months since I've received it
